Question 1

Is GEO accredited?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. GEO is designed to Cognia standards. Cognia is a mainstream United States school-quality accreditor, and accreditation is how a school's standards are checked by somebody other than the school. We apply for Cognia membership in 2027, the review is hosted on schools that are already operating, and accreditation is targeted for the 2028/2029 school year. It has to be in place long before our first students reach grade 12 in 2031/2032, and that is why we opened at grades 6, 7 and 8. Accreditation is somebody else's decision, so we will not promise you their answer or their date, and we will tell you if it moves.

Question 2

Will the diploma be recognized in my country?

Accepted Answer

In 126 of the 198 countries and territories there is a route that converts this diploma into a locally recognized qualification. In 47 there is no such route. In 24 there was no reliable source to work from, and we say so rather than guess. Find your country in the directory: it names the body that decides, the rule it works from, what your family has to do, the fee and the wait. In much of the world recognition turns on the school being accredited at home, so these routes assume the accreditation we are targeting for 2028/2029.

Question 3

Which grades are you opening, and when?

Accepted Answer

Grades 6, 7 and 8 open for the 2027/2028 school year, starting September 2027. After that the school adds one grade a year with its oldest students: grade 9 in 2028/2029, grade 10 in 2029/2030, grade 11 in 2030/2031 and grade 12 in 2031/2032. No child is ever ahead of the highest grade we teach. If accreditation lands earlier the remaining grades may open sooner. If your child will be in grade 9 or above in 2027/2028, this timetable does not reach them yet; join the waitlist, tell us their grade, and we will write to you if that changes.

Question 4

Is my child taught by artificial intelligence?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and your child is told so at the start of every session, in words an eleven-year-old understands. The AI teacher carries the lesson: it explains, checks whether your child understood, explains a different way when they did not, and sets the work. What it does not do is decide anything that matters. Grades, progression, credit and your child's transcript are each decided by a qualified human educator who has read the work, and the head of the department that owns the subject stands behind it.

Question 5

What does the school day actually look like?

Accepted Answer

Three to five classes a day of forty-five minutes each, one-to-one, plus the practice and assignments around them. Three to five hours in total. You choose the hours, because your child is the only student in the room. One hundred and eighty school days across a ten-month year, in two semesters, with eight subjects taught every week.

Question 6

What device do we need, and how much internet?

Accepted Answer

For the 2027/2028 school year, a laptop, tablet or desktop computer with a microphone, a speaker, a camera and a current browser. Lessons do not stream video, so a GEO class uses less data than a video call does, and there is a low-bandwidth mode that keeps the class fully live on a slow connection. Examinations that count toward the transcript need a video-capable connection, and the school books those into windows that work with the connection your family actually has. From the 2028/2029 school year GEO provides its own purpose-built kit.

Question 7

How do examinations work if my child is at home?

Accepted Answer

They are supervised. Your child is verified at the start of a sitting and during it, the examination environment is monitored, and the recording is deleted within a month unless there is a specific reason we tell you about. Ordinary lessons are never recorded and never invigilated. We will not claim cheating is impossible, because no school can. At GEO it buys very little: a topic only counts once your child can do it again later, unaided, on questions they have not seen before, and nothing reaches the transcript without a named human deciding it.

Question 8

What does it cost, and when do we pay?

Accepted Answer

USD 400 for a full school year, per child, with three ways to pay: USD 350 in one payment, USD 400 in two installments of USD 200, or USD 450 in six installments of USD 75. Nothing is collected now, the waitlist is free, and the first payment for the 2027/2028 school year falls in March 2027.

Question 9

Can my child stay at their current school as well?

Accepted Answer

Many families will start that way, and GEO's schedule is built for it: three to five classes at whatever hours suit you, including early mornings and evenings. Whether your country allows a child to be schooled outside its own system is a separate question, and it is answered country by country in our directory.

Question 10

What if my child is behind?

Accepted Answer

Then you are describing most children, and it is the thing GEO is best at. Before your child starts, a short adaptive assessment in each subject finds not just where they are but which earlier ideas never quite went in. Teaching starts from there. A child does not have to keep pretending to follow a lesson that stands on something they missed three years ago.

Question 11

What if my child is ahead?

Accepted Answer

They are given harder and wider work, deeper problems, more demanding applications, more ground, not an early diploma. GEO runs a full, non-accelerated program. Your child's pace decides what happens inside the year; it never shortens the years.

Question 12

Who marks the work and gives the grades?

Accepted Answer

Qualified educators. Grades are issued as work is done, all year. Each semester closes with a progress report carrying total grades and a grade point average, and the year closes with a report card. Every grade that reaches the transcript is decided by a human being who has opened your child's work. Routine day-to-day marking runs on the AI layer with a human audit sample over it, and we describe it in exactly those words, to you and to our accreditor.

Question 13

How will I know how my child is doing?

Accepted Answer

You get your own account. Every week: what your child studied, which lessons they attended, what they have genuinely mastered, and where they are struggling, in words, not percentages. Every semester: a full report with their grades. At any time: their timetable, their assignments, what has been marked, and a message channel to their coaches. You will not find leaderboards, streaks or badges; GEO does not rank children against each other.

Question 14

Are the lessons recorded?

Accepted Answer

No. GEO is not a video library and a lesson is never an unattended recording, every lesson is live. Separately, high-stakes examinations are recorded for integrity review and held for no longer than one month, unless there is a specific reason we explain to you in plain words. Both of those are true and neither weakens the other.

Question 15

What about my child's privacy?

Accepted Answer

The account is yours, not your child's. We ask for your consent before collecting anything about them, and separately again before sharing anything with anyone else, two decisions, never one. We verify your child's identity at login and during examinations, which involves biometric checks; we say plainly that they are biometric checks, we never search a face against a crowd, there is always a non-biometric alternative that costs your child nothing, and every category of data has a published deletion date. Transcripts and diplomas are kept permanently. Almost nothing else is.

Question 16

Can my child talk to a person?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each of your child's subject areas has a named coach, a qualified educator with a degree and several years of experience, who follows your child, notices when the work goes quiet and gets in touch, meets them on a scheduled cadence, and answers to you. No member of GEO staff ever has an unmonitored private channel to a child; every conversation runs in a logged channel, and that is deliberate.

Question 17

How many students will there be?

Accepted Answer

About a thousand in the first year, across grades 6, 7 and 8 and across every country we open in. It is a deliberately small first cohort. Class size, in the way you normally mean it, is one.

Question 18

What happens if we lose the internet during a lesson?

Accepted Answer

The class pauses and resumes where it stopped when you reconnect, and the teacher recaps in a sentence. If a session is lost entirely it is rescheduled into another live slot the same day or the next, never replaced with a recording to watch alone, because GEO has no such mode.

Question 19

Does my child have to sit the SAT or the ACT?

Accepted Answer

Not to graduate from GEO. But it matters a great deal in some countries. In South Africa the diploma is only accepted for university study alongside a score, SAT 1130, ACT 22, or two Advanced Placement subjects at grade 3 or above. In Jamaica recognition itself carries no test condition, but the University of the West Indies at Mona asks for SAT 1200 alongside the diploma when it admits. Preparation for the SAT, the ACT and Advanced Placement is included in the fee at no extra cost. Your child sits the examination itself externally as a private candidate, under that body's rules and at its fee, and we guide you through registration.

Question 20

What is the kit, and do we have to buy it?

Accepted Answer

From the 2028/2029 school year, GEO ships its own kit, extended-reality glasses, a keyboard and a mouse, with a built-in eSIM so it arrives ready to connect. It is not part of the 2027/2028 school year, which runs on the laptop, tablet or desktop your family already owns. The price will be published once the device is ready for offering. We are not going to quote you a number for a thing that does not exist yet.

Question 21

Why should we trust a school that has not opened yet?

Accepted Answer

You should not trust it on its word, and we have not asked you to. What we have done instead is publish the things a school normally hides: that we are not accredited and when we expect to be; every country where the diploma will not work, and why; exactly what the fee does and does not include; and who is building it. Read all of it before you join the waitlist, which costs nothing and commits you to nothing, and hold us to every word of it.

Question 22

Where is GEO registered, and who is behind it?

Accepted Answer

Global Educational Organization is an independent private online school. A Delaware, USA corporation; the school is registered with the Florida Department of Education. Designed to Cognia standards.
